• Provides the client with any potential findings or observations, thus avoiding costly fines or further scrutiny from CDI.

• Assisting the client management with evaluating the ROI of the Anti-Fraud Program.

• Reviewing of the SIU staffing levels to make sure the workload conforms with the regulations.

• Former CDI Enforcement Branch Deputy Commissioners providing an executive level review of the audit findings, observations, and recommendations.

Steve Smith (CFE), CA SIU Compliance Manager has 23 years of audit experience of which 13 of those years were California SIU Compliance audits.  Steve served as the California Department of Insurance (CDI) SIU Compliance Audit Manager and as a CDI Enforcement Branch Senior Manager (retired) overseeing CDI's SIU Compliance Operations.  Mr. Smith’s SIU Compliance responsibilities included developing audit plans/procedures, approving and developing SIU regulations and legislative concepts, providing SIU industry training, and SIU noncompliance penalty determinations and policies.

 

Dale Banda, COO is a former Deputy Commissioner of the California Department of Insurance (CDI) Enforcement Branch, including the Chief of the Fraud Division. Mr. Banda has over 41 years of investigative experience, which includes 28 years with law enforcement, 20 years of supervision/management, and 8 years at the executive level with CDI. Mr. Banda has extensive knowledge of insurance regulations and statutes, specifically in SIU and investigative operations.

 

Eric J. Weirich, Sr. VP of Field Investigations and SIU Operations is also a former Deputy Commissioner of the CDI Enforcement Branch with over 27 years of experience in law enforcement. Mr. Weirich has extensive knowledge of insurance regulations and statutes, specifically in the area of Special Investigative Unit and investigative operations.
